Bromantane Dosage: What 728 Patients Took for 28 Days (and What Happened After They Stopped)

The study

28 clinics across Russia. 728 patients with asthenia: constant fatigue, weakness and poor stress tolerance. Bromantane was given under its brand name, Ladasten.

• Dose: 50 to 100 mg a day
• Length: 28 days
• Check-ups: days 3, 7, 14 and 28, then again one month after stopping

The results

• 90.8% were rated as improved on the clinical improvement scale, and 76% responded on the severity scale.
• The anti-fatigue effect showed up on day 3.
• The effect was still there one month after the last dose.
• Anxiety, low mood and sleep also improved.

Side effects

Side effects were reported in 3% of patients. Only 0.8% stopped treatment. No serious side effects were recorded.

A separate placebo-controlled trial looked for withdrawal after 28 days and did not find it. The authors read that as no addictive potential.

The honest part

The abstract of this large study reports no placebo group, so part of that 90% may be expectation. It was also done in patients with a fatigue disorder, not in healthy people.

Bromantane is not approved in the US or the EU, and athletes should know it is banned by WADA.
