BPC-157 for Leaky Gut: The Healing Peptide Your Stomach Already Makes

Your stomach makes its own repair peptide.
BPC-157 is a chain of 15 amino acids taken from a protective protein in human gastric juice. Researchers call it stable because stomach acid does not destroy it.
That is why it gets so much attention for gut problems.
What a weak gut barrier does
Your gut barrier decides what gets into your blood. When it is weak, bacteria and endotoxin pass through and keep inflammation switched on.
That inflammation does not stay in the gut. It shows up as bloating, fatigue, bad skin and low mood.
What BPC-157 did in the studies
- Colitis: in rats with a blood-starved colon, BPC-157 brought the blood vessels back within minutes, kept the mucosal folds intact and kept oxidative stress markers normal.
- Fistulas: it closed colon-to-skin fistulas in rats, by injection and also when given in drinking water.
- Perforated gut: on a perforated cecum it shortened bleeding and pulled new vessels toward the wound.
The pattern is the same in every model: more blood supply to the damaged tissue, less inflammation, faster closing of the wound.
The honest part
Almost all of this is rat research from one group of labs. BPC-157 went into clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease under the name PL 14736, but large human trials have not been published. It is not an approved drug.
So treat it as a promising research compound, not a proven cure.
How people take it
For gut goals most people use capsules, because the peptide survives stomach acid and reaches the gut directly. I take 2 capsules in the morning.

Quick answers
Does BPC-157 heal leaky gut?
In rat studies BPC-157 restored blood supply, lowered oxidative stress and closed gut wounds and fistulas. No large human trial has tested it for leaky gut, so the evidence is promising but not proven.
Is oral BPC-157 destroyed by stomach acid?
No. BPC-157 is described as stable in human gastric juice, and several rat studies got healing effects when it was given in drinking water.
