A high-fat diet and obesity cause testicular dysfunction and infertility.
this study tested if doxycycline can protect from those effects.
doxycycline increased testicular weight, tubular diameter and germinal epithelial height.
Testicular Weight: High weight indicates healthy tissue mass and active sperm-producing capacity, while a decrease signals tissue atrophy.
Tubular Diameter: Wide tubules indicates an active, system with high fluid volume and healthy cellular division.
Germinal Epithelial Height: a thick epithelial layer is an indicator of active sperm production, this parameter is highly sensitive to metabolic stress, high-fat diets, and inflammation, which trigger cell death and shrink the epithelial height, reduction directly translate to decreased sperm count and poor motility.
High fat diet lowered all parameters, doxycycline helped to mitigate those effects.
