Low Carb diets (Less then 35% of the caloric intake) increase cortisol levels, In addition post-exercise cortisol levels stay elevated for much longer compared to High Carb, this will result in weak recovery process(Cortisol inhibits Muscle protein synthesis)
This meta-analysis reviewed 27 studies with a total of 309 participants and shows a clear link between Carbs and cortisol.
If you train regularly, Low carb is NOT a good strategy.

If consuming less than 35% of the daily calories from carbs was enough to raise cortisol, Imagine what keto diet would do.
