PubMed: Effects of a ketogenic diet in overweight women with polycystic ovary syndrome

16 overweight women with PCOS were put on ketogenic diet for 12 weeks, this is truly evil in my opinion but at least we can enjoy the data.

The diet: 100g protein, 20g carbs, 132g Fat.
dangerously low levels of carbs.
10g of PUFA daily is quite high but compared to what most people eat is low, 50g of monosaturated fats is unfortunate for those women.

They lost weight, but waist circumference went down very little which is no bueno.

Blood glucose went down tiny bit, so you've got to ask yourself where does that glucose come from if they barely ate any, Probable by gluconeogenesis which is cortisol driven and is the last thing they need being fat and metabolically ill.

Mainstream medicine argues that PCOS is driven by low levels of estradiol and too high levels of androgens, so estradiol pills are common "therapy".

Ketogenic diet increased estradiol levels big time.

Ketogenic caused progesterone levels to drop in 4/16 women, one woman had an increase in progesterone levels.

PCOS is a metabolic syndrome, treatment should be focused around lowering estradiol and cortisol while increasing progesterone and thyroid.

Low carb diet is a very bad idea in that case.
