PubMed: Cyproheptadine treatment of sexual dysfunction induced by serotonin reuptake inhibitors

SSRIs cause sexual dysfunction.
Lowering serotonin, histamine and prolactin can fix that.

In this study, 7 males who developed sexual dysfunction following treatment with SSRIs took cyproheptadine (4-12 mg) 1-2 h before sexual activity.

5/7 patients had improvement in sexual function.

Study went on for 4 weeks.
Cypro dose was 4-12mg, which is very high.
All patients experienced sedation, common when first taking cypro and usually goes away after the first week.

Cyproheptadine is also used to treat anorgasmia which is another side effect of high serotonin and prolactin in combination of vitamin E deficiency.

Study would created better results with the combination of cypro + vitamin E.
